I liked the girl group from the 90s, Total. They were a part of Puffy's Bad Boy label when Bad Boy was hot. And speaking of Puffy, or Diddy, or Sean "Diddy" Combs, or what ever the hell name he's going by at this second... Why do they keep letting this fool make bands? Seriously, if MTV airs one more season of Puffy making one more band... But I digress...
As much as Puffy works my nerves--and trust and believe me he makes me sick to just look at him--he was the hit maker in the 90s. Bad Boy had it going on and Total was one of those rough and rugged girl groups that sisters could vibe to. Sort of like ole school What's the 411? Mary J. Blige ... Anyway, instead of Puffy making new bands, why doesn't he do something with one of the old bands that we actually liked at one point? I think I'll dedicate the next few Throwbacks to girl groups of the 90s that are no longer with us. I want Total to do a tour with SWV, Xscape and 702. That would make my nostalgic self very happy. Until then... I'll just have to check out Total's "Kissing You."

Total! My husband loved that group, and that was Puffy wasn't it, he was the hitmaker of the time...

I'm totally out of the loop on this one. By the time Puffy came along I'd lost interest in rap. :(
Angelia ~ Yeah, Puffy was in the video. He was in all the videos of his artists and groups at that time. That was what prompted Suge Knight to make the statement at the Source Awards that many say really started the East Coast/ West Coast rap wars... "Any artist who wanna be an artist, and don't want the executive producer all in on the song, all in the video... Come to Death Row." LOL. My husband and I still joke about Puffy doing that even today with his new bands As soon as we hear or see him, we're like "get off the damn track, Puffy, damn!"
Chicki ~ A lot of the R&B of the time had Puffy's mark and Total was an R&B group not a rap group. Puffy actually started out producing R&B acts at Uptown Records. He first produced Jodeci and the Mary J. Blige.

Angelia ~ I was wondering about Jodeci the other day. I remember the four of them were together on one of these Award shows, might have been the BET Awards, and they announced that they would be getting back together. That was a while back and so far no Jodeci reunion. I guess they couldn't make it work... That's the problem with groups and bands too many egos to last long...
I liked Total but I didn't like that Puffy was in all his artist videos and even now he is still in his artist's videos. I don't understand why he has to be in his artist's videos.
I'm not anti-Puffy. He's amusing. But I hate the artist video thing, and apparently he's still doing it, since he's in the video with his latest artist, Donnie.
I'm like you, Chicki, not too up on the '90s stuff. I might know songs but probably not the artists. Hey, I only began liking Mary J. with her latest album.

Tiffany ~ Yeah, Puffy needs to stay out of the videos, stealing other folks' spotlight. He's so annoying. Total was hot for a minute. It's a shame these groups don't last long. I know one of the girls in the group, the short lead singer, is now married to Omar Epps. I guess she doesn't have to sing anymore
Patricia ~ LOL.I'm anti-Puffy. He's entertaining but he's so much more fun to pick on and talk about. I should come up with a board game "Diss Puffy" so others can have just as much fun. LOL. 90s music probably won't stand the text of time now that I really think about it. But I'm a music lover so I can find music and songs I like in any decade, even decades when I wasn't even born yet. LOL. And I love Mary's new CD. I also loved her first two CDs. I haven't really loved a lot of her in between CDs. So it's great to be really feeling Mary again.

I thought I was the only one who can't stand that man. I don't believe I've ever listened to his songs either. Like Chicki, I've never been into rap. Give me Mary J. Blige any day...yeah and she did that Runaway song with what's-his-face. I guess a few rap sound interesting.

What ever happened to names that mean something... like Total... ahh the good ole days of the 90s... LOL.

Bella ~ Mary J. Blige is good all day, everyday. I'm a lifetime fan. Even when I wasn't feeling her CDs I'd buy them anyway. I'm just glad that her last two CDs have made me feel that deep love for her music that I felt with the first two. She's amazing!

Oooh, Gwyn, yes!!! I loved Total!! Remember that song they did back ground vocals for, for LL Cool J? Who do you love. I don't know if that's the title, but I seriously loved that song! And no, it had nothing to do with LL and his oh so delicious juicy lips! HAHAHAHAHA!!!

I liked Total, the 80s and 90s were my music time. Now ask me about people now, I don't have a clue unless my daughter tells me.
