Need a more romantic title....

My editor would like me to come up with a more romantic title for the third Hightower Honors book. Upholding the Law just isn't cutting it. Here's a list of title I came up with that hint at the storyline and hint at romance. What do you all think? Any suggestions... Which of these would you pick?

~ The Love You Save
(This one is my favorite because it makes me start singing the Jackson Five song. And y'all know I love music...)

~ Love’s a Crime

~ Captive Hearts

~ Policing Love

~ Love Lock Down

~ The Loving Arms of the Law?

~ Stolen Hearts

~ Law of Attraction

~ Crimes of the Heart

~ Laws of Love

~ Love on the Run

Any other suggestions?

Gwyneth

Can you tell me a little more about the plot of the book?

    Thank you...

  2. Law(s) of Attraction, absolutely. It's perfect.

  3. I like The Loving Arms of the Law, myself. Or The Law and The Lady. Do your hero or heroine have names that start with an 'L'? How about To Protect and To Love?

Okay, I'm getting silly. But c'mon, Gwyneth! Surely you knew in your heart that Upholding the Law wouldn't cut it as the title of a romance!

  4. Tamika ~ :-) If you could see my face. LOL.

Ann ~ I like Law of Attraction too. I was trying to get "law" in the title to play on the hero's job as a cop and his name, "Lawrence."

Bettye ~ I like The Loving Arms of the Law
too, for the same reason I like Law of Attraction . I like The Law and The Lady too. As for knowing that the title wouldn't cut it, would you believe I had no clue until I got the e-mail from my editor. I was just so geeked that I had thought up a title that played on the hero's name and job and showed his struggle to do his job "uphold the law" while he was attracted to a woman that he thinks might be a criminal, that I wasn't thinking of anything else. You couldn't have told me I hadn't come up with the world's perfect title. LOL.

  7. All of my stories have old school song titles, so I'm going with The Love You Save.

Did you hear the rumors about another Jacksons reunion tour coming up?

  8. I like Captive Hearts or Love on the Run.

  9. I like the Love You Save!

  10. Tiffany ~ I like those too.

Angelia ~ Love Lock Down made me smile when I thought of it. I might have to use it for an erotic romance title in the future if they don't use it for this one. LOL.

Chicki ~ I love it when the titles of books make me start singing an old school love song. And I didn't know they were planning a Jackson reunion tour. That would be cool to see.

Shelia ~ I like those too. I think I'd be happy with just about any of the titles. I just hope they take the book... :-)

Yasmin ~ Thanks. That one is my first choice... We'll see....

  11. Love Lockdown, jumped out at me, too (though I would spell "Lockdown" as one word). It sounds perfect for an erotic story.

I can't believe no one pointed out the obvious for all you old-school fans . . . Stop! In the Name of Love. Okay, I'm being silly again. The Love You Save just sounds too bubble-gummy for an old gal like me (who bought the J5 record when it came out back in 1970), but it might work since your characters are in their 20s.

Be sure to let us know what you and your editor decide on!

  12. As much as I love the J5, I have to agree with Bettye. A bit bubble-gummy.

I tried to think of a title based on the blurb in the last post before reading your suggestions.

I came up with Love On the Run, which is on your list. So that's my choice.

  13. Bettye ~ Yeah, I might have to keep that one in the file for a later work. LOL. And you are too funny. But I'm thinking Stop! In the Name of Love could work... LOL.

Patricia ~ Love on the Run would be really cool since she is literally on the run.... I just hope they pick one... better yet, call it what you want just publish it...

  14. Gwyneth,
I would choose Law of Attraction or Captive Hearts. I can't think of anything to suggest right now. Your titles are good by themselves.

  15. Love in the First Degree
    Crime and Passion
    Lust and the Law

  16. Tyhitia ~ Thanks. We'll see what they pick...

Roslyn ~ Those are great! I really like Love in the First Degree and Crime and Passion . Guess who's about to e-mail her editor. :-) Thanks!

    Gwyn,
Tell me what the 3rd books is about. There are a lot of the title that I like.

    Louise

  20. Louise,

It's about a woman who is on the run from the people who murdered her brother. The people she ends up hiding out with are two of her brother's friends and they have a criminal past. This makes the hero, Lawrence think she might be a criminal too. And since he's watching them, he might as well watch her too. He doesn't expect that he might become attracted to her and she certainly has no desire to hook-up with a cop... But sometimes things don't go according to plan and you end up falling in love with the most inappropriate people...

  21. Captive Hearts is already taken. So that's out.
Love Lock Down does have that Sci-Fi erotica feel with spankings and such. Use it but not on this.
Laws of Attraction sounds either Discovery Channel sex series or like a chick lit. Ixnay that one too
    Hmmm
I love play on names in the title
so Law in it is cool but does anyone call him that in the book? Cause if not we can stop focusing on Law as well.

Is this a romance or a romantic suspense? That makes a big difference in title selection.

For Romance - Loving Arms of the Law. Wait, no that's too long. What about just Loving Law

For Romantic Suspense - Criminal Law or You have the right to remain deadly (oh wait different genre). Uuuh shoot I give up.

  22. KD ~ Leave it to you to come with the questions. I'd say the best description for this book and Protect and Serve (both the cop ones in the series) would be Romance with some suspense elements. I wouldn't go all the way and classify the Romantic Suspense because that's not really what I do... And no one call him "Law" in the book. But I like having "Law" in the title.... :-(
