This Is How We Do The Old To The New...Thursdays

Sometimes... It's about a song...

Today's pick is the Ojays classic "Cry Together." Am I the only one who thinks there's something a little bit sexy about a guy who can allow himself to be vulnerable enough to shed a tear or two? Especially a guy who is caring enough to shed a tear because his woman is crying... Now I'm not talking about some whining and childish temper tantrum throwing brother like Kanye West when he doesn't win an award. But I think y'all know what I mean. Anyway, that's why this song and the beat has been recycled so much... it's so romantic... :-)

I couldn't find the Ojays version alone on You Tube. But I did find the remake by Prophet Jones and a nice mix of the Ojays, Lil Mo, JA RULE, and The Diplomats. So enjoy!

  2. No doubt about it, old school music still reigns supreme. That's why singers keep covering the old stuff!

    Love those O'Jays.

I love this too, and I love a man who can shed a tear or two at the right time, especially a man who can and has taken care of manly business aforehand...giggling...

  4. Lyfe Jennings has a song where he talks about crying being okay as well.

With that said, man, I love to hear the OJays sing this song. That is a very beautiful song.

Most of the new guys are sampling from old music. P Diddy got famous for doing it.

Eddie Levert has a sexy voice and he could sing or cry and make the record sound good. I loved the lyrics of this song.

  6. Love the songs!

Funny thing is...when I see a man cry, I don't even know how to react. Been conditioned to think it's wrong...though I know it's not

    I'm getting better with it

    Great post!

Bettye ~ Yes, sometimes I really think all of the really great songs have really already been written... And the O'Jays... an amazing group...

Angelia ~ I know I was late. I have a cold and it has a sista out. LOL.

Don ~ I have to check out Lyfe Jennings. I haven't heard a lot of his stuff. I like his voice.

Shelia ~ I know, right! And Eddie Levert's voice. Wow. I love the lyrics of this song too.

Genesis ~ I think we've all been conditioned to think that way. You aren't the only one.

  16. I really love O'Jays. I haven't been able to listen to remakes of classics. I heard someone tried to remake Lenny William's Because I Love You and I was quite distressed.
Love the new look. I know I should be writing but I'm now on iTunes downloading the O'Jays. Le sigh. I may need an intervention.

  17. Emma,

Well... maybe the O'Jays will give the muse a jumpstart. LOL. Its funny the things that keep us from writing, huh? I know I'm in trouble when the laundry start to look like it would be fun to do...

I'm with you on some remakes not cutting it... It helps when the song is great. But not always...
