Loved it! Totally drew me in and made me empathetic for Diedra. Made me think she was probably wishing she'd moved to Antarctica. Made me want to pre-order! Way to go, Girlfriend. ;)
Thanks, Kimber An! Deidre makes her one and only appearance in I'm Gonna Make You Love Me at the Source Awards, when she implies that Alicia is a "hoochie mama." LOL. Flex has more time in I'm Gonna Make You Love Me.
Were you aware that the name 'Diedra' means sadness? I think it's a good name for this character, because it sounds like she's had her share of sadness. I'm betting she whoops butkis by the end of the story though. ;)
Patricia ~ Yes, that's exactly it. I think the novel has the flavor of hip hop, but it isn't street at all. It really is just a sweet romance with some hip-hop flava.

Oh, it also made me want to read 'I'm Gonna Make You Love Me' yet again to see where the connections are.

I didn't know that, Kimber An. Interesting. You're right, she has had some sadness and she will kick butkis! LOL.
ReplyDeleteNice cover. A majority of my students (male prisoners) read romance novels faithfully, and are always looking for a new story.
ReplyDeleteJr. Thumbprints ~ I'd heard that a lot of prisoners read romance novels. Thanks for stopping by the blog.
ReplyDeleteI like it. Different take on hip-hop romance, contemporary but not so street. (Not knocking, just pointing out the difference.)
ReplyDeleteAdded to my list.
